We capitulated in the end to support IE6 which none of us, from developer to CEO, liked or wanted,

However, any revs to the Object Matrix site in the future will not be so IE6 considerate.

<!--[if lte IE 7]>
Sorry, time is up.
<![endif]-->

Nice post, hope you keep the momentum going!

I've read articles that stipulate a 40% IE6 Tax in that the "Designers" in this case claim that 40% of their time is spent simply on fixing how the site looks in IE6.

I'd have to say that ...
1) They're a little bit O.C.D. (finicky) and wasting time.
2) Not adding time for support ...
3) Not adding time for functionality ...

One challenge between in the mix is neatly listed above in that you've identified different mindsets Developer / Bean Counter / and Client ... VERY NICE!

Another derivative of that are the "Design-Eyes" and I don't mean that to be derogatory way, but so many "Web-Designers" that want to call themselves developers treat their designs with religious fervor and completely ignore the functional basics of the CMS systems that they build templates/themes for.

I must say though ... Great article ... maybe a little stretched on the % of trouble, but excellent in deriving the working-mindsets!

IE6 MUST GO AWAY ... even MS spends too much $ to support it!
